We believe design enables purpose.

What we do helps you achieve your goals – things look better, work better and are better when Aptronym is involved.

Design does not exist for its own sake, but to promote, to communicate, to inform – whatever it is you need. That’s where we come in – with a fuss-free approach and a commitment to doing whatever it takes, quickly and fairly. If you tell us you need something for Friday, you’ll probably have in on Thursday. And sometimes, we don’t even charge for design. How does that sound?

When working with a new client, our first step is to listen. We would seek to learn about them, their activities and aims for the future. During an initial period of immersion (a term we prefer to mere consultation), we seek to learn about a client – their activities and their values. We assess their current collateral, identifying any problems which a client is seeking to overcome by working with a new design partner.

Whether for online or print, we work via an iterative review process. This is a fancy way of saying we bat ideas back and forth until a rough design is agreed. Typically, a design will encompass elements such as illustration, photography, fonts, logos and colourways – all brought together as you wish. This is then refined into the final product, produced to industry standards.

If design govern in a thing so small…

The West Midlands Midlands Quaker Peace Education Project (WMQPEP) has over twenty years’ experience in delivering conflict resolution workshops and training in Primary Schools.

They asked us to give their communications a fresh look. Starting with an old single-colour leaflet and a few photocopies of old images, we injected a bold wash of colour into their primary brochure.

In addition, we introduced an attractive new logo which will help their work even more in the future.

Birmingham Parents’ Support Group had a website and image that hadn’t been touched since 2002. Whilst they continue to reach out into the local community, their appeal has suffered because of this.

Our initial idea for rebranding as simply bpsg was met with unreserved enthusiasm, and the group now has a look which will reinvigorate its work.

A new website is ready to launch, with the client so impressed they even offered to pay more than the agreed fee(!)

The Equality Network is one of our oldest clients and we have now produced seven issues of their quarterly Newsletter.

Our close relationship with the client always ensures the fuss-free and timely delivery of an engaging and worthwhile read for the network’s members.

The first issue of The Crescent Theatre Scene season brochure for the new 2009-2010 season ushers in a bold new look which builds upon their recently revamped brand.

This was one of those projects where the clock was ticking very loudly, but we made sure everything was taken care of.

It’s always a treat when we get to work with a great artist, and when BRO-SIS needed a new look for the in-house promo work, we did just that.

The image that Johnny created for us hit the spot straight away and captured the desired look perfectly!

Goal is a ’serious video games’ project that forms part of the European Commission’s Life Long Learning Programme. Lead by Nottingham Trent University it aims to improve work-based learning and develop vocational skills.

APTRONYM has been working on branding and leaflet designs since July last year. With five partners involved in the pan-European project, it has been a challenge. However, our commitment and endeavour has paid off, and the first batch of leaflets has now been sent to print.

The Midi Music Company runs after school classes for children aged 5 to 15, helping them take their first steps in music.

APTRONYM has produced the leaflets for their BMC and Cre8tiv projects for the last couple of years, and the brand spanking new leaflets have just been completed.

Friction Theatre is a progressive theatre company whose next production is the Brecht classic Mother Courage and Her Children.

APTRONYM was asked to provide a design and deliver promotional postcards, posters and brochures – all taken care of with aplomb.
