The a cappella octet Voces8 is an international award winning vocal ensemble from London. The singers, from institutions including the Royal Academy of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama have been performing together since 2005. The group's repertoire is extensive, ranging from early 13th century polyphony through to 20th century pop songs. Voces8 also performs music arranged by its members especially for the group.

Aptronym initially worked with Executive Producer Paul Smith in 2005 on the Programme for a concert in aid of the Nottinghamshire Dyslexia Association.

Since then, we have collaborated with Paul and brother Barnaby Smith on a wide range of materials supporting both Voces8 and their sister choir Voces Cantabiles.

Just in time for Christmas 2006, Voces8 entered the studio to record Snowed In, a CD of traditional and modern Christmas songs. The challenge was to create a packaging design that paid tribute to the traditions of Christmas and choral music, whilst also highlighting the choir's young, exciting and modern image.

The choice of an eight-panel gatefold gave us a large canvas to work upon, and it was important to take advantage of the deluxe format. This was achieved by creating a landscape for the outside cover which runs across the entire width of the sleeve. This, combined with a minimalist approach, creates an especially pleasing effect on the two inner flaps when the CD is opened.

With all the necessary detail added to the inside, finishing touches included creating a logo for the choir's own (newborn!) record label and a barcode.
